WHEN you think of Adam Proudlock you should think of the guy who smashed a hatrick past Lincoln City in the 5-1 derby day drubbing in 08/09. But what seems to stick out is the fluffed penalties, the extending waist line, the scuffed sitters and a lust for a late night snack named "Cheesey chips".

Before his time at Town the thing that stuck out in my memory was Jeff Stelling on Soccer Saturday yelling out for a goal at Mollineux where Adam Proudlock had scored to put Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead. In fact in his younger years Prouds can proudly flaunt his CV that has the likes of Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town on it. His career started to flag a little in 2008 when a move to Darlington didn't work out and he ended up on loan with us. In that loan spell he more than earned himself the permanent deal he got three months later, but aside the hatrick I mentioned above we were to witness a lazy overweight imposter wearing Proudlock's shirt.

Somehow he managed to stay for the fateful year we were to lose our Football League status, not to mention the impressive scoring rate of 1 goal a season during that woeful of campaigns. In 2010 after his release he joined Conference North club AFC Telford United, following a trial with Hungarian side Ferencváros and Kidderminster, he helped Telford to promotion in his first season. Having seen the majority of the 2011-12 season from the treatment table, Telford manager Andy Sinton was kind enough to offer him a fresh contract..albeit on reduced terms and a pay as you play clause chucked in..Proudlock rejected it and joined Chester. By September 2012 after a month with Chester they had released him, allowing him to sign for lowly semi-pro's Market Drayton Town. Still with a lack of goals and struggling with form, he was granted permission to join his home town and amateur side Newport Town on loan, and that's where he remains. Incidentally Newport Town are lower on the football pyramid than Cleethorpes Town, a real fall from plaice for a 31-year-old.
