Cambridge Break the Spell

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 09/10/2013 (Last updated: 11/10/2013)

THE Mariners lost a closely fought encounter with leaders Cambridge by a solitary goal in a match of few clear cut chances. Cambridge broke the deadlock with 20 minutes to go when Adam Cunnington scored from a corner.

John Lewis then had a penalty saved shortly afterwards when Cambridge goalkeeper Chris Maxwell pulled off a save to deny the Town striker.

The result means Town drop out of the top 5 and are now 10 points off unbeaten Cambridge who are eight points clear at the top. Grimsby are level on points with their next opponents Salisbury. Grimsby have already lost at two part time clubs this season (Welling and Halifax) so will be looking to avoid a third defeat at the hands of a non-professional side.
