We are Town!

Scunthorpe v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 19/11/2013

TOWN have a fully fit squad for tonight's clash with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park tonight, meaning Paul Hurst can pick what he regards as his best possible side to beat the Iron at the second time of asking. The Mariners were the better side in the 0-0 clash in Cleethorpes 10 days ago.

The winner of the tie will face Northampton at home in Round 2, if necessary after extra time and penalties.

Defender Chris Doig (calf) was the only absentee at Tamworth on Saturday but the Scot has resumed training with the first team squad and is another option for Paul Hurst to consider.

Town have won their last two games playing the same starting XI so it is unlikely that there will be too many changes for the match against the League Two side. The defence at Tamworth withstood a lot of pressure and still kept a clean sheet, and offensively Town grabbed two of the chances that fell to them, so Hurst doesn't have any pressing problems in the side to fix.

Scunthorpe are unable to play loanees Dave Syers and Reuben Noble-Lazarus in midfield for the clash. Winger Terry Hawkridge came on at half time in the 2-0 defeat at home to Accrington at the weekend and his performance against Stanley makes him a likely starter in the replay.

  • Town were draw away at Coalville Town in the FA Trophy Third Round. The Leicestershire outfit have won four games to get this far in the tournament, the furthest they have been in their history.
