More Fixture Congestion

YESTERDAY'S postponed game at Wrexham leaves Grimsby with another rearranged game to fit into a already crowded schedule. There are still 21 league fixtures to play but there are only 13 Saturdays left in the football season, 3 of which could possibly be taken up with the FA Trophy.
That leaves a possibility of 10 Saturday fixtures, 10 midweek fixture and one Easter Monday game at home to Hyde if Town progress to Wembley.
With the prospect of more bad weather and postponements likely Grimsby could be playing catch up for the rest of the season, which in the Conference finishes at the end of April.
The Mariners look well placed for a play-off spot at the moment, but fixture congestion could definitely put a spanner in the works, with the inevitable injuries and suspensions that result from playing a lot of games in a short amount of time.
One thing Grimsby do have in their favour is their home games are very rarely called off because of bad weather thanks to the excellent Blundell Park playing surface.
