Doig Given No 2 Job
By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 01/06/2014
CHRIS Doig has been appointed Assistant Manager by the Mariners, although the centre back will continue to be registered as a player and is expected to still feature regularly on match days. The Scot stepped in to help with training when Rob Scott left Blundell Park so his appointment is very much a formalisation of the role he was playing last sea
33-year-old Doig has experience of playing in Scotland and at the top of the English Football League with Nottingham Forest. He has also played abroad in Indonesia and had a two year spell playing in top flight Australian soccer with Central Coast Mariners. Doig also represented Scotland at U-18 and U-21 level, and at one time captained the U-18 team.
