Town's Late Show

A LAST gasp equaliser for Grimsby rescued a point for the Mariners on what looked liked being another frustrating night at Chester. It was the third successive year that the game at the Deva has ended in a draw, but Padraig Amond's goal continued the sequence and in doing so preserved Town's long run of scoring in every away game.
Paul Hurst stuck with the same side that had beaten Aldershot, which meant Josh Gowling had to start on the bench following his three match suspension.
Both sides had chances in a goalless first half. Bogle overran a good Monkhouse ball which allowed the 'keeper to intercept it and then the big striker produced a top save from Worsnop when a deflected Arnold shot fell into his path.
Monkhouse blasted a chance over the bar early in the second half as Town dominated, however it was Grimsby who were to concede first when Robertson fouled his man in the box and ex-Mariner Ross Hannah converted from the spot.
With all the substitutions made and time nearly up it looked like Town were going to go home empted handed. However it was their turn to score a late goal when a long ball was played into the box and Amond reacted first to score his sixth goal of the season.
With Forest Green finally losing, the point has seen the Mariners move a fraction closet to the summit. Their next challenge is arguably the toughest yet when Grimsby face Tranmere is Friday's televised clash.
