Town Break the Kiddie Curse

GRIMSBY extended their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win over Kidderminster in a scrappy game at Blundell Park. It was only the second time the Mariners have managed to beat Kidderminster at Blundell Park at non-league level and was a welcome three points which lifted Town back to third.

Paul Hurst named an unchanged side which meant new signings Henderson and Alabi started on the bench. The first half was a stalemate played in blustery conditions, but the Mariners upped things after the break.

The Mariners broke the deadlock in the second half when Townsend crossed for Amond to head Grimsby in front.

Town were unlucky not to concede a shock equaliser when Whitfield shrugged off Toto Nsiala and hit the post with McKeown beaten.

The Mariners have a break from league action now with the next two weeks dedicated to the cup competitions. Town play Shrewsbury on Monday night next weekend and then have an FA Trophy tie against unspecified opponents on December 12th.
