Grimsby v Forest Green Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 03/08/2018

GRIMSBY and Forest Green resume where last season left off, but both have much-changed squads. The two clubs both ended last season strongly to pull away from the bottom two, but Town had the last laugh winning 3-0 away in the closing game of the campaign.

Grimsby have two long-term injuries. Elliott Whitehouse is awaiting an operation on his cruciate knee ligament, and Harry Cardwell has missed much of pre-season with a foot injury so is still a few weeks away from starting games. Jordan Cook is back in contention after recovering from an illness.

The Mariners are expected to field half a dozen new players in the squad, including experienced captain John Welsh.

Forest Green have made 12 new signings and they have no injuries so boss Mark Cooper has a full squad to pick from.
