Macclesfield v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 10/08/2018

GRIMSBY failed to make any further signings in the permanent transfer window, although there remains the prospect of loan deals in the remainder of the month. It looks like boss Michael Jolley will have to make do with the 20 players he had to pick from for the Forest Green game.

Town lost that game 4-1, but the Grimsby manager will be hoping from a reaction from his players, plus he has the option to change in most areas of the pitch should Jolley choose to exercise it.

Whitehouse and Cardwell remain Town's only injuries to Jolley has the same set of players to pick from in that game. The most controversial aspect of the defeat against FGR was the choice of wing backs. Dixon and Clifton were preferred, with Fox and Hall-Johnson many fans choice for those roles.

Macclesfield made one transfer deadline signing. Midfielder Peter Vincenti signed the 32-year-old on a free from Coventry. Midfielder Elliott Durrell is the Silkmen's only injury concern.

Grimsby and Macclesfield last met when the pair were in the National League, and the Silkmen did the double over the Mariners in Town's promotion season. Macc went on to win the league last season and this will be their first home game since claiming their promotion place with the title in April.
