GRIMSBY reached the 50 point mark with a point at Morecambe on Saturday thanks to a late equaliser by Charles Vernam. Morecambe looked to have wrapped up the points thanks to an Aaron Collins penalty with 10 minutes to go. However, Vernam's strike, combined with defeats for the bottom 3, guaranteed League Two football for Town next season.

Michael Jolley made three changes replacing Reece Hall-Johnson, Alex Whitmore and Harry Clifton with Sebastian Ring, Joe Grayson and Martyn Woolford.

Both teams had chances in the first half but Town shaded it with a Vernam, Grayson, and Dennis all going close for Town.

With but teams struggling in the final third, Town looked to have lost the game when McKeown was deemed to have fouled Collins after the defence was caught out by a long ball and the referee awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to go. Collins took it himself and put the home side in front.

With two minutes to go, Dennis linked up with Vernam, setting up the striker for a tap-in in front of goal.

Grimsby have four games left to end the season on a positive note. The final four games of last season were the high point of the whole campaign, so hopefully, the Mariners will emulate the strong finish of 12 months ago.
