Holloway Wants the Job

Former QPR boss Ian Holloway has confirmed he would be interested in being the next Grimsby manager and is now favourite for the position. Holloway has managed 8 clubs but never at as low a level as League Two and his wages could well be a stumbling block.

The Town board have been reluctant to appoint a successor to Michael Jolley and appeared set to give caretaker manager Anthony Limbrick every chance of mounting a claim to the hot seat.

Meanwhile, Town's season is still stuttering along although there have been small signs of improvement, not least 2 successive matches in which Grimsby have got the ball in the net, although they have had to be satisfied with draws against Macclesfield and Crawley.

Limbrick hasn't really done anywhere near enough to justify a permanent claim to the job and only an appointment of a "name" like Holloway would potentially galvanize the fans.

Grimsby haven't appointed a high profile manager since Mike Newell, their recent job offers have all been made to lesser names.
