Away Woes Continue at Halifax

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/01/2022

GRIMSBY lost another close match, this time to leader Halifax, and their away malaise continued with a seventh consecutive defeat. A penalty on the hour mark was the only goal of the game.

Talisman John McAtee return was the only change, with Giles Coke missing out in the game's only change.

Town started well and McAtee found space to set up Maguire-Drew for an early chance, which was saved. Green has a good chance for the home side but shot wide. Efete was forced off injured after half an hour, with Longe-King replacing the full back.

McAtee has a good chance in the second half after finding some space, and his shot was spilled then cleared for a corner.

Pearson then conceded a penalty on the hour mark with a mistimed challenge on Allen and Warburton scored from the spot.

Max Wright and Joel Grant came on for Town but Halifax looked the more likely to add a second goal in the closing stages. There was to be no repeat of the last gasp equaliser from the reverse leg at Blundell Park a few days ago.

Town have had a poor run, but with 3 out of the next 4 games at home, they have the chance to pick up some much-needed points.
