GRIMSBY Town face some of the pre-season favourites in their opening games of the 2023-24 season. The Mariners kick off against Wimbledon at Blundell Park on 5th Aug, then head to Nottingham to face second favourites County a week later.

Town then have two home games in a week, both against top 8 sides from last season - Salford and Mansfield. The month concludes with a trip to Walsall. September doesn't get any easier with trips to Bradford and favourites Wrexham in the first half of the month.

Christmas sees two away trips to Mansfield and Salford before Town host Walsall on New Year's Day.

The two Easter games are Barrow away and Bradford at home.

It looks like a tougher division this year but Grimsby look to have strengthened their squad over the summer, an ongoing challenge, so hopefully Town will be more competitive in the new campaign.

So a summer of sport with the Ashes and Wimbledon nicely concludes with swapping strawberries and cream for haddock and chips.

UPDATE: the Mariners have drawn Mansfield away in Round 1 of the EFL Cup. The match takes place on 8th/9th August.
