The Great Coates Debate

David Peasgood this week finds Fred and Bert are wondering about traffic in Great Coates once the new ground is built.
Hear their views and YOU decide in our latest 'fishy' poll.

Fred and Bert

The Great Coates Debate

FRED:
I tell you it'll be chaos. I moved to Great Coates for a bit of peace but I won't be able to park outside my house on a match day.

BERT:
It wont be chaos at all. There will be no fans parked in Great Coates on match days.

FRED:
How do you work that one out?

BERT:
Residents like you will get a residents pass to display on your windscreen. Signs will warn that parking in the village during matches without a pass will mean you get towed away.

FRED:
So who will be doing the checking?

BERT:
The police will patrol the village from well before kick off and note any cars without passes. These unauthorised cars will be towed away by a tow truck that GTFC will hire. It wont take long for folk to get the message.

FRED:
Well they'll park outside the village and on the industrial estate.

BERT:
Blimey. Do you want blood? So what if they park outside your village? They'll also park at the ground and at any ancillary car parks on Europark or wherever.

FRED:
Then there's the noise….

BERT:
From a fully enclosed stadium Fred? I think not. Anyway when did a town crowd last make a noise?

FRED:
Well what about litter left in the village then from everyone walking through?

BERT:
You have no chippy, no pub and no shops in Great Coates. What are they going to buy and why should they leave litter? They will hardly carry old programmes and plastic drink containers from the ground just so they can dump them in your village.

FRED:
In other words it wont make any difference to me having a football ground on my doorstep?

BERT:
Course it will. You won't have so far to walk to get to the games you dozy bugger.

Now for the vote...
