Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Offensive Pair In Talks

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 10/09/2001

LENNIE LAWRENCE is looking to make two additions to his squad in the form of winger Anthony Omerod and striker Michael Boulding, both currently taking part in trials. With Blackburn centre back Marlon Broomes installed on a month's loan, Lawrence is looking to strengthen his team in other areas.

Free agent Boulding (left) put in a polished performance in last week's 5-0 drubbing of Blackpool reserves playing on the left side of midfield, but the former Man Utd youth player's strongest position Lawrence believes is up front.

Omerod (top), who is available for a nominal fee from Middlesbrough, scored in the Blackpool game, and is looking to agree terms with the Mariners.

Town are optimistic that they will be able to extend centre back David Beharall's loan by another month, with further loan periods after that possibly on the cards. Lennie Lawrence is looking to keep the Newcastle defender at the club with a series of loan spells, in a similar way to which Stuart Campbell was molded into the team last year.

David Beharall, speaking prior to Saturday's game at Coventry said: "I'd like to stay but obviously I've got to keep my options open, as do the club, but they do need cover at the back. Things will be sorted out next week as to whether I'm staying."
