By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 15/01/2002

GRIMSBY's youth team went out of the FA Youth Cup last night after a 2-1 defeat in a typical cup encounter at the Aggborough Stadium, Kidderminster. Harriers took the lead against Neil Woods' youngsters with a penalty after Kirk Wheeler handled.

Grimsby scored a deserved equaliser midway through the first half when Ross Thompson headed in from a corner, but Town went behind again just before half time when the central defence failed to cope with a long ball which led directly to Harriers' winner.

A tense second half, including five minutes of added time, saw Harriers hold on to gain a place against either Nottingham Forest or Watford in the Fifth round.
