Reserves Going Up?

By: Martin Copass
Date: 09/03/2002

AS there are two clubs promoted this season, it now seems quite likely that Paul Wilkinson’s reserves will be elevated into the Avon Insurance Premier League. With six games to go, Town are four points clear of their nearest rivals and one of them (Doncaster) have played two games more.

Of these six games, two are at home, including a game against leaders Walsall. It would be good for the club's reserves to be in a higher league, but fans should not get to excited at the thought of Town in the ‘Premiership’ as it is not as grand as it sounds.

This is because the league mainly consists of teams from the first division with one or two exceptions such as Tranmere and Oldham. However, it will give the younger players the chance to play against higher quality players assuming the club decides to keep them on for next season that is.

So if you get the chance, get down to Blundell Park and support the team for their final two home games. The fixtures are available on this site, they usually kick off on Wednesday’s at 2pm and there is no charge to get in.
