Coyne Named in Wales Squad

DANNY COYNE has once again been named in the Wales squad by Mark Hughes as one of four 'keepers to face the Czech Republic on March '27. The back-to-back selection comes after the Prestatyn-born shot stopper was also named in the squad to face Argentina in Wales' previous friendly.

Although Coyne is thought unlikely to start, the fact that he is finally being recognised after seven years in the international wilderness, following his solitary cap for Wales against Switzerland back in 1994, represents tangible progress for the Town 'keeper.

For the game at the Millennium Stadium on March 27 Coyne faces competition from Southampton's Paul Jones, Middlesbrough's Mark Crossley and Nottingham Forest's Darren Ward for the number one jersey.

This season has Coyne only missed one league game (when he was on international duty), and he has kept 11 clean sheets for Grimsby. He is easily the most consistent performer in the Town squad, and the Mariners' most valuable asset (including their Blundell Park ground!)
