Simon Fords Says He Will Sign - Maybe Today!

MORE good news for the Mariners, with Simon Ford hoping to sign a new deal with the Mariners either today or tomorrow and as reported earlier, Ex Sunderland striker Craig Russell is reported to be on trial with Grimsby Town.

He moved from Sunderland to St Johnstone and is available on a free transfer as they need to reduce their wages bill so he has joined the Mariners in hope he will get a contract. He scored 31 goals in 150 first-team appearances for Sunderland.

Graham Rodger said: "We will have a long look at Craig and he will go straight into the side for tonight's friendly at Hull. He's got a good pedigree and playing in the First Division shouldn't be a problem for him."

"We've given him no guarantees but he is the sort of quality player that we are looking for."

Both Craig Russell and Lee Sharpe will be playing in the friendly against Hull City later today.
