Midfielder Snubs Town!

LEICESTER City midfielder Junior Lewis has turned down a loan move to Blundell Park, thwarting Town boss Paul Groves' intention to secure a new player in time for Saturday crunch clash with Bradford at Blundell Park.

Lewis is the second midfielder in a week to turn down the chance of playing for the Mariners, after Birmingham's Curtis Woodhouse elected to join Rotherham on loan ahead of a host of First Division clubs, including Grimsby, who were chasing the former Blade.

29-year-old Lewis was given the opportunity by Foxes' boss Micky Adams to join Grimsby on loan after slipping down the pecking order at Leicester, but has chosen instead to stay in the East Midlands.

The former Gillingham midfielder joined City in 2001, and last season had a loan stint with Brighton, where he made 14 league starts, scoring on three occasions for the Seagulls.
