Marinelli Says No to Move to BP!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 03/02/2003

CARLOS Marinelli is the second player to turn down a loan move to Blundell Park, instead the Argentinian midfielder has joined Serie A side Torino until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old joined Middlesbrough from Boca Juniors for £1.5m in October 1999, playing initially with the club's Academy sides.

Made his debut at Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day, though Bryan Robson held him back to shield from the hurly-burly of the Premiership. Plays 'in the hole' behind the forwards and has an array of skills that only South Americans seem to have.

Was heavily involved in the first team throughout the 2001/02 campaign, opening his goalscoring account with a brace against Derby County in a 5-1 thumping at the Riverside Stadium.

Position: Midfielder
Date of Birth: March 14, 1982
Birthplace: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 11.8

Paul Groves is also awaiting a decision from another unnamed player about a possible loan move to Blundell Park.
