Town Fail in Keeper Quest

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 27/02/2004

GRAHAM Rodger has failed in his quest to get a new 'keeper in on loan for Saturday after the GTFC board decided that with only two loan slots left until the end of the season, the risk of using one of them up now was too great to justify.

This means that Andy Pettinger will make his career debut between the sticks when Town face Barnsley on Saturday. With Aidan Davidson out now for at least six weeks with an injury, coincident with a three game ban, Pettinger has a chance to further his career with a decent run in the first team.

The former Scunthorpe Youth player has not played any sort of match since November after only recently himself recovering from a broken finger.

In other news today Iain Anderson is confirmed as being out for at least four weeks through injury, which means Phil Jevons is almost certain to start the next few games in midfield. Striker Iffy Onuora has also completed his move to Tranmere after falling out of favour since the dismissal of Paul Groves, who himself today moved on loan to Scunthorpe.
