Pettinger Out For Three Weeks!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 09/03/2004

ROOKIE 'keeper Andy Pettinger broke his finger during training today and is out of Town's clash with Bournemouth on Saturday at Blundell Park. The former Evertonian has only recently recovered from a similar injury on his other hand.

Since the first injury Pettinger has made his way into the first team during Davison's recent suspension, which fortuitously coincided with an injury to Town's veteran 'keeper. Pettinger made his highly memorable debut 10 days ago against Barnsley, when Town triumphed 6-1 over their Yorkshire rivals.

The former Scunthorpe Youth Team player has been told he is likely to be out for around three weeks.

With Aidan Davison still injured (seemingly a curse has fallen this season over Blundell Park), Nicky Daw will be forced to use up one of his two remaining loan deals for a replacement goalkeeper. The only other 'keeper on Town's books is 19-year-old former Watford trainee Bradley Hughes, who has never played a First Team game in his entire career.

The number of players currently injured or carrying knocks at Blundell Park is now believed to stretch into double figures.
