Bulgarian Friendly Announced

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/05/2004

GRIMSBY have arranged a pre-season friendly with European giants CSKA Sofia after a proposed game with Division One outfit Rotherham was cancelled.

The match against the Bulgarian giants will take place at Blundell Park on Monday 26th July, kick-off 7.30pm.

Sofia, who are currently placed third in the Bulgarian Premier League, are frequent qualifiers for European competitions. Last season they qualified for the Champions League, where they were knocked out by Turkish club Galatasaray.

It will be first time ever that the Mariners have faced Bulgarian opposition in their 125 year history.
