Buckley Did Not Apply For The Job!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 21/05/2004

FORMER Grimsby manager Alan Buckley has not applied for the managers job at Blundell Park according to club chairman Peter Furneaux.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports today that neither Buckley or another fans favourite for the position, Steve Cotterill, have applied for the job and Cotterill indicated he is not interested.

Peter Furneaux, who confirmed that report said he wants to appoint someone who is committed to the area.

But does that rule out Buckley? First reports indicated that the club were pursuing candidates and knew the person they wanted. (Some sources claim that an offer was declined.)

If the club are doing the pursuing then Buckley may not need to apply if the club feel he is one they might approach.
