Shrewsbury Release Cramb

SHREWSBURY striker Colin Cramb has left Gay Meadow following a fortnight of negotiations over a payment to the Scot to release him from his contract with the Shropshire club. The 30-year-old, who was recently on trial at Blundell Park, could now be heading our way again in search of a new contract.

Colin Cramb "I did well last season and played a part in getting the club back into the Football League at the first attempt, but when I was on the bench at the start of this season I decided I had to leave the club to get first-team opportunities," Cramb (left) told the Shropshire Star.

"But I just have to get on with it. The really disappointing thing is leaving all the lads because they are the best bunch of players I have ever worked with at all my 13 clubs. I wish them all the best for the future, especially for the fans who have given me terrific support."

Russell Slade has been searching for an experienced goal scorer for the Mariners since before the season started. Slade last week conceded that former Chesterfield striker David Reeves was one of a number of targets, with presumably Cramb being one of the others.
