Michael Jeffrey

Michael Jeffrey was a mystery player in a pre-season game duing the summer of 2000 and was signed by Alan Buckley on a free transfer from Kilmarnock.

The striker endured a slow start to the season but ended up being a Buckley player that new boss Lennie Lawrence regarded as back-up.

Due to no form of his own, but injuries instead, Jeffrey started many games up front but couldn't gel with any strike partner paired with him.

His hold-up play and experience was an asset but he lacked confidence - and that was all but drained when Lawrence lambasted the player following a 3-2 defeat at Bradford the next season.

Although he featured early in the 2001/2 season, he faded away and was released in the New Year.

Next Player: Terry Fleming
