Stadium Proposal - The Fishy's View

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 24/01/2006

THE announcement by Grimsby Town Football Club today, that they have submitted a planning application for the new Conoco Stadium, is additional confirmation that the club is going forward with its ambitious plans for the future and will be welcomed by both supporters and the wider community.

The planning application is the first stage of what could be a lengthy process but the club have acted quickly, as promised, to get the project back on the agenda and in the public eye.

In the months ahead, the club is going to need a great deal of support in its bid to bring back pride in the town and providing a very valuable community resource.

The Fishy has supported the new stadium proposal from the beginning and we are committed to continuing that support and assisting as much as we can.

We would hope that all Town fans and supporters will join us in supporting the project which is the beginning of a new era for Grimsby Town Football Club.

John Fenty, who has been a prime mover in the stadium project since he joined the Carr board and this current board, has made huge personal commitments to the club and the stadium project.

It is fitting therefore that the whole community supports the club and its commitment to the town.
