Grimsby 1 Peterborough 2

GRIMSBY once again capitulated at home to Peterborough in what has now become a familiar pattern. Town took the lead through Michael Reddy, only for the opposition to claw their way back and win 2-1.
Russell Slade made three changes: Newey returned in place of Gary Croft at left back, Toner was dropped for new signing Curtis Woodhouse and Bloomer came in for the suspended Ben Futcher, in what is his final game on loan from Lincoln.
Town started nervously, with Peterborough having most of the early possession before the Mariners slowly got into the game after 20 minutes or so. Reddy almost put Town ahead, but St Ledger made a good interception just before Town's leading scorer was about to pull the trigger.
Reddy put Town ahead when his shot took a substantial deflection which wrong-footed the 'keeper.
The lead was to last just two minutes. Gain ran unchallenged through the Town defence and unleashed a shot which beat Mildenhall.
Peterborough should have gone ahead shortly before the interval, when Logan set up Gain whose shot hit the inside of the post and bounced clear.
McDermott didn't appear at half-time, with Gary Croft instead replacing Macca at right back. Both sides had chances to score the winner, but it was Posh who looked the more dangerous and stunned the home crowd with a well-taken goal. Gary Croft was beaten for pace by Logan who crossed for Danny Crow to guide it into the Grimsby goal with his head.
Town were given a bit of hope when the Posh 'keeper Tyler was injured in a collision with Michael Reddy, and had to be carried off injured. With no 'keeper on the bench, in was left to striker Logan to go in goal.
Apart from a few fumbles with crosses Logan was largely untroubled, and Peterborough negotiated their way through eight minutes of injury time to come away with three points.
Grimsby were once more very poor defensively and need to seriously improve over the next few weeks if they are to secure an automatic promotion place. They now have a break of a whole week after playing midweek games for two weeks running.
