Buckley Opens Up About Players

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 19/12/2006

ALAN Buckley said Michael Reddy looks a real good, talented player. "I have worked with him for the last two days and I have liked what I have seen" he said. But Buckley added that Reddy had turned down the club's offer.

"The club recognised what a commodity they had got. They made him an offer and he turned it down. I had a chat with Michael and it's nothing to do with me, the chairman, the fans. He just wants a change of scenery and to play at a club in a higher division."

"If he doesn't want to play for the club let's have him on the transfer list and let's have him down the road and get some money for him. Until then let's get the best out of him."

"If he wants to go I have got some other players here that I will spend my time working with."

Buckley named Stoke defender Andy Wilkinson and Swindon midfielder Andy Monkhouse as two of the players he is interested in signing.

Buckley answered the question of Peter Bore being shunned saying he needs a bit more nurturing.

The news that Reddy still wants to leave Town is disappointing but the question remains as to who would want him with his recent injuries. There always remains a chance that he may choose to stay if he cannot find a club to take him.

Either way, Buckley will not let that get in the way of his team building. He knows who he wants. Getting them to sign may be a bit more difficult.

Buckley said he hoped to extend Paterson's loan deal but still remained doubtful over whether a permanent deal could be brokered.

He did say that he interested in signing Peter Till on a permanent deal, should Birmingham agree to let him leave St Andrews.
