Beat the Bookies: Week 5

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 27/08/2010 (Last updated: 20/11/2010)

ALTRINCHAM and Stoke both failed to win last week which meant both our tips lost. Still with the season starting to gather pace there's more relevant form to look at, which certainly helps when picking winners.

Home > 2010-2011 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 5

  • Hereford v Rotherham. Both these sides have conceded a lot of goals in their first three games, but Hereford at 7/4 look good value with home advantage. Selection: Hereford

  • Macclesfield v Chesterfield. Chesterfield look like favourites but the bookies have over-egged it a bit and a home win is not as unlikely as 11/5. Selection: Macclesfield

  • Morecambe v Gillingham. The Gills have been dire all season. Morecambe haven't exactly been pulling up trees but you can get decent odds (11/8) on a home win. Selection: Morecambe

  • Eastbourne v AFC Wimbledon. Eastbourne (2/1) are scoring goals for fun. They won this fixture last year and can do so again. Selection: Eastbourne

  • Hayes v Crawley. We saw last week that Hayes (16/5) are capable of knocking out the big sides in this division. Selection: Hayes

  • Darlington v Gateshead. Last week's game with Hayes shows that such fixtures are not as straightforward as they would appear on paper and this is a local derby. Darlo were not great on Tuesday and Gateshead (21/5) have already had some decent away results. Selection: Gateshead

  • Blackburn v Arsenal.. This is the sort of fixture which Arsenal often slip up in, and they lost it last year. 5/1 for a home win looks very generous. Even a draw at 3/1 is worth a punt. Selection: Blackburn
