Grimsby Town's Big Night!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 04/04/2002

IT'S on again! Grimsby Town Football Club's greatest night. The Players Award night. It is up to you - the supporters who gets the awards and the club are looking for you to cast your votes! Who is your Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year?

This year it is easier. Mariners Net, the official site, has provided the facility for you to vote online. All votes will be added to the total votes received at the club offices. Voting closes at midnight on Thursday 18th April 2002.

The "voting booth" at the GTFC Shop is now open to take your votes for the Supporters Young Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year Awards, those being the two main awards of the Awards Evening. Tickets for the event are also on sale at the club shop priced at just £2.

Last season saw Danny Coyne take the main award, and the Town number one must also be in contention this year as well in a group of several players which will no doubt include the likes of Alan Pouton, John McDermott, Paul Groves, Tony Gallimore and Michael Boulding. No doubt all Mariners fans will have their own opinions on the subject so make yours count by filling out one of the official voting slips and handing it in at the club shop. Call in at the club shop to pick a voting slip up.

Do not be left out! This is your chance to meet the players and officials. The awards will be presented at the official Awards Evening on Monday 22nd April 2002 at The Winter Gardens in Cleethorpes commencing at 7.30pm.

For just £2. a ticket you can enjoy a great night out and see your favourite players receive their awards. The night also includes entertainment from Y'Abba D'Abba, the ultimate Abba tribute band and a disco which follows the awards ceremony where there will be over twenty five trophies to present. There are trophies for the youth sides upwards and various awards from GTFC supporter groups, culminating in the presentation of the overall supporters awards.
