Boulding Tops Wish List!

TOWN boss Paul Groves is reported to be still searching for a loan striker to replace Steve Kabba despite Darren Mansaram's brilliant display against Preston and Michael Boulding is top of Groves' wish list he revealed today.

Talking to the Grimsby Telegraph he is refused to name his other targets for fear of alerting his first division rivals. Coventry, Ipswich, Wolves and Watford have all declared their desire to bring in a loan striker and Groves is keen to avoid a bidding war.

"There aren't too many players out there of the type that we want as it is and, when it comes to first division clubs, we know we are down the pecking order. If a player gets a choice between someone like Coventry or Grimsby, he won't be coming here. The last thing we want is to get involved in an auction because there will only be one winner, and it won't be us."

".…We have been there before and it's a bitter lesson we've learned in this job!!…."

"We were in for Danny Webber from Manchester United at the end of last season and were favourites to sign him. But then it got out and one or two other clubs showed interest, the player got a choice, and he went to Watford. There are numerous examples of that happening I'm afraid. There's little we can do to stop it other than try and do things as quietly as possible."

Sunderland's Kevin Kyle has already been ruled out because he is too close to a first team call and in fact was called up from the bench last Saturday to.

Despite Mansaram's impressive display against Preston, Groves believes it is too early yet to let him carry the load on his own saying; "We still need help up front. We knew Darren was capable of doing something like that and that his goal would come. We'll have to see what sort of lift that goal gives him but remember he's only 18."
