Season Ticket Price Increase!

GRIMSBY Town fans will have to pay more next season to watch the Mariners in the 2nd Division as the board try and fund an instant return to the 1st Division.

Match day prices will rise for the second time in 2 seasons following the ITV Digital collapse, the effects of which are still being felt by the Club. Town hope to repeat last pre-season's figure of £440,000 being raised through season ticket sales.

The cheapest adult seat at Blundell Park in the pontoon will cost £13 with the most expensive being in the upper Smiths stand at £17. But this is better value when compared to nearest neighbours Scunthorpe United where it costs £13 to watch 3rd division football from the terraces.

The cheapest season ticket for Blundell Park is now £266 in the Pontoon, Main stand or the lower Smith stands with the most expensive being the Upper Smiths stand costing £323. All the prices quoted include a four match early booking discount.

Last time the Mariners were relegated in 1997 the number of season ticket holders dropped by a quarter. Last season 2,900 Mariners supporters bought season tickets but chairman Peter Furneaux is hoping that the prospect of a promotion push will persuade the current ticket holder to sign up despite the ticket price going up. "Obviously we remain positive in our objective that, like Crewe, we can make a swift return to the Nationwide 'Premier' league." he said in a letter to present season ticket holders.

"After seeing the likes of Leicester, Ipswich, Barnsley, Huddersfield and a few others entering administration, it shows the immense amount of effort and dedication at Blundell Park to steady the ship after the cruel demise of ITV Digital. However the on going fight isn't over yet."

"We need more than ever, the continued support of you our season ticket holders. It has been necessary to increase prices by £1per game, but we are sure you will find this a small price to pay when taking the on going survival of the football club into consideration"

The letter also goes on to remind supporters that the present directors are funding the club to the tune of twice the season ticket income. The major shareholder, Five Star supremo John Fenty, is shouldering most of the responsibility.
