Mystery Man Named?

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 04/07/2003

REPORTS coming in say that Rochdale striker Clive Platt is the mystery man Paul Groves has been looking at and he is considering an offer made to him by Groves.

Platt moved from Walsall in 1999 to Rochdale initially on loan but in September 1999 he transferred for a fee of 100,000. He was released by Rochdale in May this year and is being chased by a couple of clubs apart from Grimsby. He has scored 153 league goals for Rochdale.

  • Name: Clive Platt
  • Height: 6.04
  • Weight: 13.00
  • Date of birth: 27-10-1977
  • Place of birth: Wolverhampton
  • Position: Forward
  • Nationality: England

Paul Groves is also searching for a goalkeeper to replace Danny Coyne. Groves has previously spoken to Aiden Davison and is awaiting a response.

But Groves cannot wait too long. With the team departing for Ibiza tomorrow, and the start of the season only a few weeks away he is anxious to get it sorted quickly.

Gallimore may also be made an offer to stay but that will depend on other factors. There may be news on that later today.
