Pouton Injury Worse Than Feared

TOWN midfielder Alan Pouton is set to miss the start of the new season after today undergoing surgery on his troublesome knee. The worse than anticipated news about Pouton is compounded by the fact that centre back Simon Ford is suffering from suspected tendonitis.
A scan taken today will reveal whether Pouton needs to rest his knee, in which case it would keep him out of first team action for a least a fortnight, and even longer if he needed further surgery.
With the season due to start against Plymouth on August 9, Town's influential midfielder could be set to miss the critical first few games at a time when Town would have been looking to get off to a flying start in a new division.
The good news is that Simon Ford's injury is not expected to persist until the start of the season, but will interrupt his pre-season training, and is less than ideal preparation before the campaign begins in earnest.
