Groves on the Cup Draw

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 27/10/2003

PAUL Groves vowed to gain revenge over Second Division QPR when the two sides meet again at Blundell Park in the FA Cup 1st Round. The Mariners, who have not won an FA Cup game this century, are paired against Rangers at home, just five weeks after narrowly losing the equivalent league game.

"It is a good one for us. It is a home draw which is the only thing that you can ask for," the Town boss told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"In terms of teams QPR are probably the toughest one we could have pulled out of the hat at this stage, but we are at home and you can't ask for more than that," said Groves, adding: "and it would be nice to get a bit of revenge!"

Rangers, who are the bookies' favourites to win Division Two, scored an injury-time winner in the game at Blundell Park on 4th October after Grimsby had had several chances to seal the game themselves.

Season ticket holders have until 5pm on Friday 7th November 2003 to purchase & reserve their seat for the Cup Game. Season ticket seats will go on general sale after this date if they are not claimed. Season ticket holders, along with any other supporters, can reserve their seat(s) by using a credit/debit card on (01472) 605050 and speaking to the ticket office.
