The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Ando to Dundee

IAIN Anderson is to return to his first club Dundee after the Scot's contract with Grimsby was cancelled by mutual consent. The club's highest wage earner was reluctant to play his football in League Two and wanted to return to the Scottish top flight.

Anderson's year at Grimsby was a disappointment, and his removal from the Blundell Park wage bill will free up funds for Russell Slade to offer contracts to some of those currently on trial with Grimsby.

The trialists have been boosted by Alex Higgins, a 22-year-old former Boston midfielder, who has been out the game for nearly a year after being diagnosed with epilepsy. Another new arrival is former Millwall full back Robbie Bull.

Meanwhile Town striker Jonny Rowan looks like he will be leaving Blundell Park after failing to sign a new contract offered to him during the summer. The Grimsby-born forward, whose first team outings have been limited since signing a lucrative pre-ITV Digital contract when Lennie Lawrence was manager, has been linked with Conference new boys York City.
