Another Crisis?

GRIMSBY Town supporters should get real. Despite lying 3rd in the league they are bemoaning the fact that our home results are not as good as those away and, the long ball tactics are not what they are used to.

All I can say is that there are worse thing happening in the world of football and they should thank their lucky stars that they are not Bavarian folk dancers.

Just think. If your parents happened to be on holiday in Bridlington 9 months before you were born, you could be a Yorkie.

God forbid they were on holiday in Scunthorpe!

So you can see that in football you should be grateful for what you have got. Unless you are a Bavarian folk dancer of course.

Those poor folk, according to The Guardian, are being allocated only 45 seconds in the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Germany to perform their bit.

The organisers have also banned women from performing and only the men, says The Guardian, who wear Lederhosen and Bavarian hats decorated with the beard of a mountain goat, will slap their thighs alone.

To add insult to injury, other Bavarian pastimes including Alpine horn blowing, musical whip cracking, and ceremonial gun firing, have also been excluded.

"We are not going to be taken for a ride," said Bernd Walter, the deputy president of the Bavarian folk dancing association. "If they don't give us any longer we simply won't take part."

Quite right too. Where would we be without the horn blowers, whip crackers and mountain goats? Football would never be the same.

Yes Sir! There are worse things than being a Town supporter. Especially if you are a Bavarian folk dancer!

Or a mountain goat!

Now where's me leather trousers and bugle?
