Conlon Signs!

BARRY Conlon has joined the Mariners on a permanent basis, signing a two year deal at Blundell Park. The Irishman is the latest player to make the transition from loanee to a permanent squad member under Mike Newell, and the second this summer after Joe Widdowson signed for Town yesterday.

The much travelled 30-year-old Irishman scored five goals in eight appearances in a vital loan spell from Bradford which played a massive part in helping Grimsby to escape relegation in the final few games of last season.

Conlon is a good target man, holds the ball up well, has an eye for goal, and weighs in with his fair share of assists.

Grim Rob Says Town now have three quality strikers on their books in Akpro, Proudlock and Conlon. Each has their own strengths, so hopefully with a couple of other options in the squad, Town will have the strike force to establish themselves in the top half of the table.
