Just The Ticket!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/05/2009

TICKET prices have been reduced by the GTFC board in a bid to get the fans to come back to Blundell Park on a regular basis, carrying on from where last season ended. The price reduction applies to both matchday and season ticket prices, so all fans will benefit.

The reductions are in summary:

  • Fans buying tickets in advance for the first five home league matches will benefit from a £2 reduction on last season's prices throughout the ground. The club are retaining the option of keeping the price at this level depending on the uptake. Matchday prices down to £16 in the Main and Upper Carlsberg Stands, £14 in the Lower Carlsberg and Pontoon. Junior tickets cost just £6 on the day.

  • Season tickets bought in the first month of sales are reduced by almost 13 per cent on last season's full price to £299 (Main and Upper Carlsberg) and £266 (Lower Carlsberg and Pontoon).

  • Senior citizen season tickets will be priced at £190 in the first month of sales, a 10% reduction.

  • Junior tickets (£70) and student prices (£110) have been frozen at last season's level.

  • Junior and senior citizen tickets will rise £20 after the first month, with student tickets for 15-18 year olds up £40.

Chairman John Fenty told the Grimsby Telegraph: "We want to carry that groundswell of support we had in the run-in last season and build on that further.

"The fans were monumental towards the end of the season, together with our media partners and sponsors.

"It all enabled our survival in the Football League. Now we have to get that support behind us again.

Season tickets go on sale on Monday, June 8 from the Blundell Park ticket office. Fans are also able to spread their payments over 10 months.

Grim Rob Says: The more people who come to Blundell Park, the better the atmosphere, and the more likely Town are to win. If Town are winning, this in turn will prompt further people to come. The problem in the past has been getting people to come through the turnstiles in the first place to kick-start a successful run - until the end of last season that is. Now hopefully this excellent move by the board will get the ball rolling by bringing more people into the ground for the first few games, which in turn will lead to a decent run of games and get the whole town buzzing.
