GRIMSBY overcame League One side Yeovil in the South West Challenge Cup, eventually winning 3-2 after throwing away a two goal lead.
Sweeney and Akpro started the first half after missing the opening game and both were prominent early on.
But Town gained a deserved first half lead when Barry Conlon scored from the spot after Forbes was brought down in the box on 30 mins.
Both sides' outfields were replaced at half time and Town scored straight after the break through Danny North, but two goals from Yeovil looked like taking the tie to penalties, before a late goal by trialist Nathan Arnold sent the Mariners into the semi finals.
