Managers' Graveyard |
Darlo Sack Todd

IN a savage piece of irony, just when Grimsby fans thought that failing to beat Darlington was the pits ,the Quakers' directors saw things quite differently. The fact that Darlington, the bottom club who had not picked up a point on their travels, had failed to beat Grimsby got boss Colin Todd the sack.
The Darlo boss, who had been given the job of rebuilding the team from scratch just four months ago, told the BBC: "It was agreed before today's game that if we didn't get the win then I'd be leaving."
Darlington normally pick up six points every season from their two games with Grimsby.
Blundell Park is a managers' graveyard. Many coaches have been dismissed for either losing to Grimsby, or the humiliation of only drawing with them. Whatever division the Mariners are in, directors up and down the land seem to regard it as the ultimate humiliation if their side do not grab all three points.
Darlo are looking for a new boss, but according to Todd it is unlikely to be his assistant former Hull City striker Dean Windass, who was linked with Grimsby as player-manager before Mike Newell took over.
