THE Blue Square doesn't wait around does it? While League clubs are into their 11th match of the season we're on to our 15th and with 22 points already collected things are looking just a little better than last season as it took us till the 17th February to amass the same number of points.

Their History

Formed in 1886, the Harriers were firstly a successful athletics and Rugby club before finding out about this awfully alien concept of Association Football, which they decided to have a crack at. The club have spent the majority of their existence in the Birmingham local leagues and were very successful winning the league 6 times and collecting 58 trophies which must be a right bastard on the old Brasso. The Club first entered the Conference blinkered and wide eyed in 1983 carrying their Wham mixtapes and beautiful mullets hoping to full their filofax with all different sorts of plans like trips to Aldershot and so forth. The club under Jon Chambers were elected to the league after AP Leamington the actual champions were denied entry due to poor ground facilities it is their manager at the time Graham Allner who would soon be the Harriers man at the helm. The team boast being the last non-league club to get to the 5th round of the FA Cup and narrowly missed out on promotion to the League in 1997 when finishing 2nd behind Macclesfield. The club at the time received a large amount of money due to a sell-on clause for former player and all round murdering fucktard Lee Hughes. This money along with a large investment from new owners helped Kidderminster to the Conference Championship in 2000 but after mid-table finishes and the hope of more to come the club were relegated in 2005. Back in the Conference the team have tried to gather themselves and push back to League Two.

This Season

A 3-0 win for the Harriers tomorrow would see them leap frog ourselves and be back on track for a promotion push. The Harriers currently lie 15th and with the nature of the league at the moment are just a few wins or of course a few defeats away from apparent success or disaster. The team started slowly with just 1 win in their opening 6 matches and though a subsequent run of 6 games undefeated, one game including a 2-0 win over Wimbledon helped right the slow start. This to was halted more recently by; two, 2-0 defeats against Bath and Crawley and though a 2-1 win over Gateshead on Tuesday grab a further 3 points for the club. The season has so far been inconstant and they will be looking at games like ours as must win if they wish to be at the right end come the end of the season.

Key Player - Keith Briggs Number 8

Briggs has more than 150 league appearances under his belt and with a list of former clubs including Norwich, Stockport and Crewe he has the right sort of pedigree needed in the Conference. Briggs is a former player under Steve Burrs former club Stalybridge Celtic. This is where the 28 year old really found himself, he was an enormous part of the clubs play off campaign and the season after scored 11 in 38 appearances becoming even more valuable assisting in the goals. When Burrs left for Kidderminster it was no surprise the Briggs was quick to follow him to the West Midlands. He’s intelligent, quick and has a hell of a right foot on him. And with 3 assists and 32 shots already this season he will be a major pain in the arse!

Prediction

Forest Green was slightly poor. The defence were poor and though the return of Rob Atkinson may help in the long run. A repeat performance like that will see us leaking goals. A point is a must, a win would be appreciated and a defeat would be awful.
