Connell Wins Player of the Year
By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 27/04/2011
ALAN Connell has won the Player of the Year award for 2010-2011 to cap what has been a huge personal success for the 28-year-old. The striker, who has netted 28 goals this season for the Mariners, his first since signing from Bournemouth, also won six other trophies in the annual awards night.
Connell still has one game left to take his goals total to 30, which would be a huge achievement in what has otherwise been a disappointing season for the Mariners.
The Mariners will do well to hang on to Connell over the summer, who has one year remaining on his contract at Blundell Park.
Full back Bradley Wood won Young Player of the Year, and other awards were picked up by Steve Croudson, Michael Leary and Michael Coulson.
