Luton Head the Pack

LUTON have been installed as pre-season favourites by the bookies for next season, with big-spending Fleetwood expected to be their main challengers for the one automatic promotion place into the Football League. The Mariners are the eighth most fancies team, and are priced at 16/1 to win the league.

Of the two relegated sides Lincoln are the more strongly fancied, with Stockport expected to struggle more - probably because of their recent financial problems.

In this division of two halves the remaining fancied sides are all the full-time former football league sides, with Darlington, Mansfield, York and Wrexham the front runners.

Of the promoted sides none are expected to challenge for a play-off place, Alfreton being the pick of a poor bunch according to the bookies following their commanding performance in the Conference North last season. Newly promoted Braintree Town are in fact favourites to get relegated, even though the Essex side won the Conference South.

Last year I tipped AFC Wimbledon, who came second. This year I am going for big-spending Fleetwood, with AFC Telford as my dark house. The Mariners are simply not value at 16/1 with only half a squad and doubts about Connell staying. I'd be looking at the odds of Town going down (not yet available) a notch if I wanted a good value bet.

In your are looking for a good bet Crawley are 5/1 to win League Two. Fill your boots!
