FORMER Mansfield defender Gary Silk has become the long-awaited first summer signing of the Mariners. The 26-year-old right back has signed a 1-year deal at Blundell Park following three years at the East Midlands outfit.
Mansfield had wanted to keep Silk but he was persuaded to join the Mariners by Town's new managerial duo.
Silk could become Town's regular right back with Bore and Samuels having departed and Bradley Wood perhaps destined to play in midfield next season.
Town are expected to make at least half a dozen signings this summer, which will be managers Rob Scott and Paul Hurst's first full season at Blundell Park.
