Beat the Bookies: Week 1

WHO followed out 90/1 tip of Felixe Sanchez to win the 400m hurdles? If you did you'll have obviously made a lot of money! Even at 4/1 for a place it was a very lucrative bet.

Anyway, with football back we can concentrate on betting on the new season, safe in the knowledge that we made a profit over the summer.

Home > 2011-2012 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 1

Blue Square Premier

  • Lincoln City v Kidderminster - home win (2.83, Pinnacle). Lincoln had a poor first season at this level, but have had a summer to consolidate and select a squad more suitable for the challenge ahead. Kidderminster did well last season, but you'd expect Lincoln to challenge for a top 10 place at least this year, and home form is going to be crucial.
  • Southport v Grimsby - home win (2.97, Pinnacle). Grimsby have had a reasonable pre-season but with Liam Hearn missing will not be at full strength. Town are traditionally poor starters. The bookies make the Mariners favourites for this game, a tag I'm not sure they deserve.
  • Hereford v Macclesfield - home win (2.42, Pinnacle). You'd imagine that Hereford are the better equipped to survive at this level.

    Rugby League

  • Salford v Huddersfield (2.8, Bet 365). Salford had a poor second half in London last week, but that asides they have had a good season. Huddersfield's campaign has come off the rails in recent weeks.
