Beat the Bookies: Week 3

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 24/08/2012

WEEK Two saw Reading grab a late point and get the draw we needed. plus Scunny were roundly thrashed by Crawley.

In fact we've got a 100% record so far in all our tips not involving Grimsby, who are best left alone this weekend with a tough tie at Wrexham. Town could upset the Welsh side, but the odds are not long enough to really tempt with Town being best priced around 3/1 with Bet365.

Chelsea v Newcastle - draw (4.52, Pinnacle).. Chelsea were far from convincing against Reading and were lucky to win. Newcastle will probably be a stiffer challenge and both the draw and away win are worth backing with Pinnacle.

  • Charlton v Hull - home win (2.4, Coral). Hull were lucky to win their first game and in midweek lost at Blackburn. Charlton have a formidable record at home and Hull will do well to get anything there.

  • Scunthorpe v Yeovil - away win (3.75, Marathon). Scunny have had a terrible start the season apart from the lucky cup win and could well be found out again against Yeovil.

  • Shrewsbury v Tranmere - away win (3.1, Marathon). Tranmere by all accounts have been very impressive this campaign so far. Shrewsbury is not an easy place to go but Rovers's results to date suggest they'll be up to the challenge.

  • Aldershot v Cheltenham - away win (3.1, Boylesports). Aldershot were well beaten by Exeter and the Robins had a good comeback against Torquay in midweek. Cheltenham had a good season last year and are expected to be near the top again, Aldershot are probably going to struggle to make mid-table.

  • Lincoln City v Macclesfield - home win (3.0, William Hill). Lincoln have only picked up 1 win in 3, but by all accounts have not have not performed badly. Macclesfield have got off to a good start, but both their wins so far have been at home. They've never been very good away from Cheshire.
