Scott: Four More Players Needed

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/06/2013

TOWN bosses are looking for just four more players to complete their 18-man squad for next season. The pair are after two defenders, a central-midfielder and a winger to add to the two acquisitions so far of Scott Neilson and Scott Kerr.

Town have plenty of strikers already on their books, so the main priority is the centre of midfield, a central defender and a full back who can cover in a more central role.

Town boss Rob Scott told the Grimsby Telegraph: "We're looking at another centre-midfielder and possibly one more wide player. We know we need another centre-half as well, and possibly another defender who can play one or two positions – maybe as centre-half and as a full-back if needs be."

Scott was keeping Town's targets close to his chest, and dismissed some of the names which have been linked with the Mariners.

The Mariners are this season aiming for quality rather than quantity in their squad. Last season Grimsby had several players who hardly appeared for the first team (even when players were injured, others were brought in on loan), and that isn't going to be the case this season.

The Football Conference (no longer sponsored by Blue Square) starts again in August.
